A Changing World for Women in Sports
Many times, when we mention the sport of "basketball," most people think of Stephen Curry or Lebron James, with their fancy skills and accurate shooting. However, when we add the word "women’s" in front of “basketball,” all we hear is a different assessment.
Some girls want to join the boys to play basketball together, but the boys have always refused, because they think that, if the girls join, the basketball game will become very boring. They think, “What if a girl gets hurt? How can they play if they don't know the rules? How are they supposed to play when all they do is chase the ball? How can we communicate with each other?” Problems like this come up. A lot of people think that girls playing basketball is boring; after all, you rarely see them make the same backward step, or continuously change to shake the opponent. Most of the time they are just a bunch of people running around chasing a ball, with all kinds of screaming, and the score at the end is like a football game. So, people want to watch their ball more than they want to watch them play.
Nowadays, there are women who love sports who need to be seen. There are many girls who love basketball, and some girls even play better than boys. China saw that light hit the body of women's sports, and slowly paid attention to it.
The achievements of women in sports have broken the gender division in the sports arena and enabled the beauty of women's power to bloom freely on the field, which not only makes the Olympic Movement stronger, but also helps to further promote gender equality and the all-around development of women. This interpretation of the spirit of sports shows that Chinese women never give up, and dares to challenge the female image.
