Even through Silence

SilenceGlobal Beat

In our community, there are public libraries that can let people enjoy reading there. These libraries are typically not filled with people during the morning, giving me a place where I can stay quietly over there without outside noise. Sometimes I like to go there alone to refresh my mind after a long day of scrolling through social media and filming TikTok videos. I can read many books and magazines, sometimes to obtain knowledge and ideas, but many times simply for fun (such as teen magazines that show new social trends). It is a really nice and useful facility to all of us.

There are temples and churches in our community, too. As a devout Buddhist, I visit these temples to feel both peaceful and encouraged. The master or priest always guides people to do the right things and help each other, and it inspires me to think on the bright side. Since I was young, I have had a strong connection with my local priest, who has acted as a father figure guiding me through the knowledge of Buddhism. I feel calm and appreciative every time I visit these places.

In our community, there is one platform that offers free lessons about the law. It helps low income families, which raises awareness of social issues such as the increasing wealth gap. My parents and I take these classes, sometimes just to reflect upon what we can do better as citizens of our country.

All in all, I believe our community can influence us with the activities that it offers, even through silence.
