Highs and Lows
Every time we blink, we experience life. What is life? What exactly constitutes life? There are numerous ways life is viewed. It is viewed as a state of living, living things, and the period between birth and death. However, I believe life has a more in-depth meaning.
Life is the start and end of this event. It’s our highs and lows, our ups and downs, our tears of pain and even the ones of joy. It is our screams of agony and our screams of extreme delight. Life is just those moments where you feel certain ways that you could never explain. Life is in the risks that you take, the journeys you embark on, the mistakes you make. It is in the truth and the apparent, the lie and the manipulation. Life is every waking moment of every single day, so surely something so elaborate should have a purpose.
A purpose. Adults, teenagers, and kids all over the world wonder where they fit in. They wonder what their place is in this fast-paced world. Some figure out their purpose early, when they find what ignites their passion. Others can spend their entire life looking for their “purpose,” some finding it later in life and others dying without knowing what they lived for. However, what they don’t know is that their purpose could have been to empower others or to bring innovation. Someone’s purpose may be to lead, another’s to plan. Someone could be meant to bring smiles to people’s faces or to speak about the darkest recesses to bring about change.
As we go through life, we experience our hardships and successes with others. We laugh, cry, and scream. We face our problems head on, while some others give up in despair. In times of trouble, you see those who abandon and betray others, those who mumble and grumble. This is how people form opinions about others, this is how generations are created, stories are set, futures envisioned.
So, what is life, you might ask again? It is everything, past, present, future, emotional, mental, intellectual, physical, and spiritual. That is life.
