My Community Gives Me the Freedom to Learn
“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
- Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
But the problem is, people tend to want too many things. And I’m not an exception. This is where my community helped me out, by giving me the freedom to learn about any subject imaginable.
My community offers various courses and substantial opportunities. This semester, I spent 1.5 hours a week studying artificial intelligence, 1.5 hours for physics, and 1.5 for math. Also, I joined a club teaching psychology and one discussing history. Every week, I’m able to dip into different subjects for a while and enjoy myself. Exploring each topic by learning some basic information is an excellent way to determine whether I will spend my entire life after school taking it up as an occupation. My community doesn’t limit the number of courses or clubs I join, so I can participate or quit one according to my will. It is the flexibility of choice that enables me to go for more and explore deeper.
Up to now, I find my interest lies in managing. I love the sensation of creating a plan, amending it carefully, and watching it finally be put into practice. My community provides the opportunity to be a president of a club, the Youth League Committee, or the Student Union. I’m honored to be the secretary of the Youth League Committee, and the work is fun (despite being arduous sometimes). I’m no longer afraid of speaking in front of the public and can hold a meeting successfully. Also, I’m able to balance my schoolwork and secretary work.
Thanks to my community, I’m able to develop many hobbies, try plentiful activities, and strive for my goals. And of course, I will repay my community when I’m older.
