Overcoming Crises in Spain
Spain has suffered from many economic crises but the one we are experiencing now is as bad as the previous ones, even worse.
First, the price of food has doubled since five years ago, and it seems that its price is not going to decrease any time soon.
Second, the price of houses has become unmanageable. Before, it was a piece of cake to be given a mortgage. However, nowadays it is almost an impossible mission.
Third, salaries have not risen and working conditions are getting worse each day. People have to work extra hours for no reason, while these hours are not paid. Also, the timetable is not convenient, as in many jobs people have to work for 12 hours, which means being outside the home all day and not having time for leisure activities,
Fourth, concerning labor conciliation, women find it difficult to raise their children while they are working. Enterprises are not helping either. Women are forced to work a ridiculous amount of hours and very often they have to find someone to care for their children because it is impossible to do both.
How can we change this so that our community can stay resilient? We can boost the economy by creating jobs and by cutting unnecessary expenses like politician’s salaries, direct our taxes to the improvement of citizen’s lives (e.g. free transport, higher taxes for rich people, and free education), and apply strict laws against corruption.
