Speech Is Silver, but Silence Is Golden

Silence. You can relate it to many things, both positive (peace, tranquility) and negative (grieving). As the quote mentions, staying silent and keeping your eyes closed solves all your problems that no other medicines can cure. My parents have always encouraged me to take time to pause, be still, and appreciate silence through the ancient science of yoga.

In yoga, meditating has helped me understand that silence isn’t only negative, but deep inside it is full of positivity. Many other asanas/procedures have great effects, but meditation is where you can forget all your tensions and stay silent. At first, I hated doing yoga, because I thought it was for elderly people. But slowly, I started seeing the change in me, and I knew it was all because of yoga.

Scientists believe that staying silent via yoga, even for ten seconds with your eyes closed, can help you understand and calm all the thoughts going on inside your mind, and forget all your worries for that period of time. They say that being silent for a while relaxes the body, and it can also help our mind and body thrive.

Today, we face lots of noise pollution. The effects of noise pollution are headaches, high blood pressure, and a racing pulse. If the noise is very loud and constant, people can even get heart attacks. It’s very hard to find silence nowadays, and even if you get it for a minute or so, you should make the most of it!
