The Development of Technology

In my community, knowledge is shared mainly through the education one receives in schools, colleges, and universities, but above all through the experiences and skills that our parents and grandparents share and teach us. Adults always mention how technology worked in their time, how previously one had to search for hours for information in the books they had or go to other people's houses to borrow their books. Communication was through letters, and information was only given through newspapers or radio. Many things were slower and more complicated to access, which is why they said they were more valued.

In recent years technology has been changing and developing extremely quickly; we have gone from the creation of the Internet and social media to what we today call artificial intelligence in the blink of an eye. Without a doubt, it has been impressive and, even from my point of view, somewhat worrying. It is true that all these advances facilitate many aspects of our daily lives and also play an extremely important function in different areas such as science, medicine, communications, and many others. Without a doubt technology is an essential part of human life, but just as it has many advantages, it also has disadvantages and risks.

For me, one of the biggest risks we are exposed to with technological advances is that, as a society, we begin to give more value to the capacity of artificial intelligence and begin to leave aside our unique capabilities and forms of expression as human beings, prioritizing the perfection of technology and not valuing the imperfect art of being human.

I believe that technology should only be a complement, and that we should not depend so much on it, that instead we should give more importance to developing our skills and abilities. Like everything in life, we have to find a balance and, above all, preserve our autonomy and essence.
