The Power of Courage

Courage is associated with values; a brave person acts decisively and firmly faces their fears and insecurities. This is not easily achieved, especially when you are a shy or insecure person.

A few years ago I was a timid person who didn’t know how to express myself with acceptable words in front of people. I had enormous insecurity, and I was even afraid of making a mistake with what I said or did, which made me feel useless.

All those fears that I once felt began to disappear when I was between eight and nine years old, because at that age I began to be part of various activities such as studying English and being part of the Super Kids Foundation. In these activities, I had to speak in public, which was one of my biggest fears, but this changed when I joined the foundation. There, the teachers inspired me to be brave and face all my fears to move forward, and it worked perfectly to change my career. It felt great.

In addition to these activities, I listened to talks about health care, how to act in conflict situations, and how to avoid bullying, among others. The young women who led these talks demonstrated confidence in her words and her actions, which motivated me to try to do the same. All these experiences inspired me to be more courageous in the field of public development. Other people motivated me to be brave enough to fulfill my dreams and to overcome the obstacles that arise in life. There are times when we think that our dreams are difficult to fulfill, or that we will not be able to overcome an obstacle, because we are afraid of failing and not being able to get up again. Well, someone once told me that obstacles are like stones on the road that we sometimes stumble upon, but the important thing is to get back up and try again with more courage than before.

All this has taught me that courage has a great impact on people and that it is a type of power that not all of us have. But with motivation and practice, we can have it. All these people in my community have inspired me to be braver every day in different ways and fields. I feel very proud to have a community with such inspiring and courageous people. It is okay to feel fear on various occasions; the important thing is to face them with courage.
