Unity in Diversity

Unity and DivisionGlobal Beat

India is a land of diversity. It is a country in which different people speaking more than 30 different languages live together with negligible conflicts. It is a country that houses more than a single religion, unlike many other countries. The state does not preserve or foster any religion. Though India is known for conflicts between Hindus and the Muslims, it does not happen as frequently here as many think. We keep ourselves united.

The story of uniting the Indians is a very big one. On August 15, 1947, India was freed from British rule and partitioned into India and Pakistan. The division was made on the basis of religion. A lot of people died. Witnessing all this, resilient India decided to bounce back and choose secularism. Now, we the Indians are unified. At any cost, the connection to our nationality remains within us. Whatever happens, we stand hand in hand. Let it be for a social cause or just for a cricket match, Indians remain Indians. We forget all the religious and linguistic barriers. Not only that, but in earlier times, India used to follow Varna system, but we are taking steps to avoid class division now, despite the fact that India used to follow the Varna (caste) system. Whenever there is an attack on the country, everybody unites and fights against the wrongdoer. We are a country with unity in diversity. A bundle of stocks is a lot more difficult to break than a lone stick.
