I Stop and Ponder
Artwork by Noemi Gonzalez
Now and then, I stop and ponder,
On the memories of days gone under
Of moments that were once so clear
That now seem far away, and unclear
I think of days when I was young
Of laughter, love, and songs sung
Of hopes and dreams that filled my mind
Of all the things I hope to find
Now and then, I take a breath
And think of all that I've been blessed
The love that's grown, the dreams come true
And all the joys that life can bring anew
So now I look ahead with hope
And pray that life will help me cope
With all the things that lie ahead
And all the things that might be said
For though the past is dear to me
I know that I can still be free
To make new memories and new dreams
And find new paths and new streams
And now ending this poem with so many rhymes
I come to say goodbye
And to tell you to take advantage of your time
And above all to value it, stand bye
