Society

We live in a world where —
The moment we come out of our
Mothers' wombs — we doubt ourselves.

Our souls rely on the technology that
Steals our creativity, reality, and sensitivity.
Our minds are set to have things immediately;
Just one click away from our next order, event, or posting.

We are brought down for our beliefs
And disregarded for meaningful accomplishments.

Fame comes from jumping off a cliff
Or drinking from our noses.
Why is society so lenient yet stern
On personal image?

Girls fear the criticism.
Parents join in on the fun,
And our friends influence us
With all the drugs.

Funerals have turned to parties.
The afterlife is now a place of "peace."
When will we learn that our actions have
Consequences?

Maybe when we realize that true living
Is harder than death — in a society
That promotes only regret.
