Fall Wonderland!
Artwork by Arina Stetsiuk, age 16, Ukraine
Today’s the day the wind blows hard,
Knocking down leaves and trees from every corner.
The leaves are dancing in the air while they fall.
The waves of the lake are going
Down
Up
Down
Up
I wouldn’t want to sail today, the wind is just too strong.
My boat wouldn’t stand a single chance on the waves.
Plouf!
Plaf!
Pling!
Today’s the day the temperature gets cold.
There is frost on every tree,
From the roots to the tip of the branches.
If I go out to run I might just slip on the hard gravel.
Boom!
Crash!
Bang!
Today’s the day I see the trees with not a single leaf,
Their branches are empty with no colors.
The wind made the leaves go away.
Which makes all the trees lighter and easier to fall.
If they fall, I better cover my ears.
Fall!
Break!
Snap!
Today’s the day I get to stay inside,
All cozy and warm,
With my peppermint tea.
The fireplace is welcoming with its pretty flames.
Tomorrow I’ll jump head first into the leaves!
Pouf!
Paf!
Pang!
What a Fall Wonderland!
