Waiting for More

Waiting for life to grab me by the hand
Waiting for maturity to whisper in my ear
Telling me
How to get out of the maze of life —
The best way out
Or Kampe* will come
To get you

Waiting for the fog in my head to pass by
Waiting for the end of the day to come
Hoping for
The sun to bring
New beginnings
But the only thing brought
Is yesterday

Waiting for the feelings to pack up and leave
Waiting for sleep to wash over me
Sparking tongues
Blazing out at home
Since it’s easier
Than being sad, so you can at least
Pretend to have purpose

Waiting for reasons to make sense
Waiting for emotions to have a way of expression
Seeking the
Validation
From everything in sight
Hoping that life will soon
Grab me by the hand

*Kampe is a female monster who guards the entrance of Tartarus from Greek Mythology

Charis (Kare-iss) is a 14-year-old girl from Richmond, British Columbia, pronouns she/her, who enjoys writing — mostly to clear out her thoughts — though she doesn’t consider herself a good at it . Other than that, she likes to sing, play piano, read about mythologies of the world, talk too much, and make upcycled things.
