Echoes of Conflict
Artwork by Arina Stetsiuk, age 13
Hushed mumbles resonate in my head,
My heart thuds, beating out of my chest,
Are my eyes weeping out tears of blood?
Is my soul tearing apart?
My mind tainted and tortured
By the venom of greed,
By the venom of woe,
By the venom of disorder,
And by the endless torment of conflict;
O Father!
Forsaken am I,
In this dark dungeon of malice,
In this desolate prison of chaos;
I am now wrecked by ego,
I am now an embodiment of pride,
I beg of you,
Set me free!
Oh, set me free!
